About
Understand the invisible.
Bitcoin is made of things nobody can see: keys, signatures, hashes, a network of strangers agreeing on one history. Bitcoin Universe turns each of them into a machine you can see and operate, so that anyone, from a curious child to an engineer, can understand how it really works.
Three levels, one machine
Easy explains the idea in plain words. Explore invites you to change things and predict what happens. Advanced shows the protocol rules, formulas and numbers. You can switch at any moment, on every model.
Accuracy
- Every amount is computed in whole satoshis with Bitcoin's actual rules: sizes and fees as in BIP 141, the real subsidy schedule, real difficulty arithmetic, real hashing and signatures checked against official test vectors.
- Each model says which kind of rule it shows: a consensus rule every node enforces, a node's relay policy, a miner's choice or a wallet's convention.
- Anything simulated, accelerated or hypothetical is labelled where you see it. Networks, mempools, attackers and economic scenarios are simulations; past dates and block heights are historical facts with sources.
- The models are deterministic: the same settings always tell the same story, so what you see can be checked and discussed.
- Nothing here is a price prediction or financial advice.
Safety
The wallets, keys and recovery phrases in the models are demonstration data, made up for teaching and labelled as such. Never type a real recovery phrase or private key into any website, including this one. Enter it only into your own wallet software or signing device, obtained from its official source, when you restore your own wallet. No genuine service will ever ask for it.
Privacy
There are no accounts, cookies or analytics. Nothing is requested from anyone else unless you choose it: live data on the Bitcoin Live page or the optional AI tutor, each only after you agree. Learning-path progress and your preferred level are stored only in your own browser, and you can clear them at any time.
Accessibility
Every model can be used with a keyboard, a touch screen or a screen reader, and stays still if your device asks for reduced motion. Each machine has a text description, and the numbers it shows are written out in text beside it. If something does not work for you, that is a bug we want to fix.
How it is built
The 20 models are hand-built interactive illustrations. Each one is a self-contained page that also works on its own, offline; this site embeds them in a protected frame and keeps them in step with the level you choose. The site itself is plain HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript, with no tracking. A server is needed only for the optional live data from the site's own node and the optional AI tutor.
