Each era is 210,000 blocks. At exactly ten minutes per block an era would last 1458 days; the real eras were shorter.
Bands on the drum, top to bottom: publication and launch · early transactions · mining · protocol upgrades and forks · halvings · wallets · lightning network.
A selection of major milestones, each with a source and the precision the record supports (some are known only to the month or year and sit mid-period on the drum). Activation heights are Bitcoin Core's where Core defines one; P2SH was activated by timestamp (1 April 2012). Console heights between dated blocks are interpolated and marked ~; years after the last dated block are estimates (≈). Nothing on the drum is a price or market claim.
